MISSION

The mission of the Department of Adult and Continuing Education of College of Education, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike is to develop “world-class” human resources in the areas such as: Adult and Continuing Education, Curriculum and instruction, Educational technology; to meet the national sustainable development needs and global challenges through quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, learning, researching and community service for global competitiveness and cutting edge best practices.

HISTORY

The Department of Adult and Continuing Education is one of the seven departments in the College of Education in Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State of Nigeria. It came into existence on 4th June, 2014 with the approval of the Senate under the distinguished chairmanship of Prof. H. O. Edeoga, the then Vice-Chancellor Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike and the first Dean of the College, Prof. N. A. Umezulike. The department assumed full status with the pioneer Head of Department as Prof. L. O. Eya. The department as at the inception houses three different programmes viz:

1.       Adult Education with teaching subjects

2.       Curriculum, and

3.       Educational Technology
