Admission Requirement and programme info – Library and Information Science

4 YEAR PROGRAMME VIA UNIFIED TERTIARY MATRICULATION EXAMINATION (UTME):

(a)  UTME subjects taken from social sciences, Business and Sciences, i.e., 3 subjects taken from any of these areas, and , in addition

(b) Five credit passes (minimum) at once or two sittings at the SSCE/GCE/NECO or their equivalent at ordinary level. The subjects passed shall include English language and mathematics and one other of agriculture, science or social science.

(c)  Grade II Teachers Certificate (TCII) with at least merit or credit in 5nsubjects including English language and mathematics and one other of agriculture, science or social science.

 

3 –YEAR PROGRAMME OR DIRECT ENTRY:

(a)  Diploma in Library and Information Science (ND) with at least credit pass from a recognised institution plus 5 credit passes at SSCE/GCE/NECO or their equivalent at ordinary level including English language and mathematics at not more than two sittings and one other of agriculture, science or social science

(b) National Certificate of Education (NCE) in library and information science with at least merit pass from a recognised institution plus 5 credit passes at SSCE/GCE/NECO or their equivalent at ordinary level including English language and mathematics at not more than 2 sittings and one other of agriculture, social science.

(c)  Pass in at least two subjects at the GCE (ADVANCED Level) or HSC (Principal Standard) with SSCE/GCE/NECO or their equivalent at ordinary level with minimum of credit passes or their equivalent in 5 subjects which  include English language  and mathematics at not more than two sittings and one other of agriculture, science or social science.

 

DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME:

This programme has a minimum as well as a maximum period within which it can be completed by a student. The maximum period is always two academic years in excess of the minimum period. Any student who fails to complete the programme at the expiration of the maximum period shall be required to withdraw from it.
